"John Tripp, who came from England and located at Portsmouth, R. I., in 1638, when about 28 years of age. He was a carpenter by trade. His wife was Mary Paine, daughter of Anthony Paine. He was a prominent citizen, filling the office of deputy many terms, also member of the town council."
